The ROE Act Petition - Review 2020
We began a petition this winter to help connect more people to the ROE Act. So many people have difficulty reaching out to their legislators, and legislators need to hear from constituents. The petition provided both a way to inform people about the ROE Act, and to inform legislators about people's support for the ROE Act as written.
We delivered the first set of signatures in February. COVID hit, and we delivered the next sets of signatures by email beginning in July. We accompanied our digital deliveries with photos or videos to include as many people as possible.
Our November delivery presented new challenges, with more than 5,000 signatures gathered by Monday November 9. We assembled the petition in sections, documented this, and then connected the sections for delivery.

Special delivery: November 9, 2020
5,000+ signatures were gathered in support of the ROE Act by November 8th and delivered ceremonially to the State House on November 9th.
A digital version was emailed to the co-chairs of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary, who had a deadline of Thursday November 12, 2020 to report out on the ROE Act.
People from across the state signed the petition in support of the ROE Act as written, asking legislators to expand access to abortion.
